An often overlooked aspect of Drupal core is the ability to run multiple Drupal sites out of a single set of Drupal files. This is a great and wonderful idea. Or is it?

As with everything Drupal, the power is there, but you have to know how to use it. Multisites can greatly improve your administrative workflow or make it a living nightmare. They're quite useful, but not in every instance. This session will show some of the inner workings of Drupal multisites and I'll demonstrate some of the plusses and minuses of using them.

I have been managing Drupal multisite installations for a couple of years and have developed a setup and workflow that helps eliminate some of the pain points and allow developers and administrators to develop locally and plan better staging and deployment processes. I'll show the tips and tricks that I've used to make the process as smooth as possible. Some of the later information may range into the "intermediate" experience level, but the explanation of Multisites will be targeted toward the "beginner" level.
